Colorado’s First Microbrewery

Boulder, CO - 11/12/07 – Boulder Beer Company’s newest limited-edition release, Obovoid Empirical Stout, was packaged today and makes its debut this Thursday, November 15th.

Empirical evidence has shown the brewers at Boulder Beer Company that beer fans across the country are going to love Obovoid Empirical Stout, an oak-aged oatmeal stout as dark in color as deep space. Aging Obovoid on oak adds an earthy character to the roasted notes and bittersweet chocolate finish derived from the black and chocolate malts. Obovoid has a rich mouthfeel and pours a creamy, off-white color head.

Obovoid Empirical Stout is the 8th Release in Boulder Beer’s Looking Glass Series of specialty beers. This series also includes favorites with similarly fun, whimsical names such as Hazed & Infused, MoJo IPA, Killer Penguin Barleywine, Sweaty Betty Blonde, Cold Hop British-Style Ale, Never Summer Ale and MoJo Risin’ Double IPA. These innovative, full-flavored brews all began as unique creations on Boulder Beer’s 55 gallon pilot-brew system and were served on tap as “Brewer’s Choice” beers in their onsite pub. The recipe for Obovoid was brewed multiple times as a Brewer’s Choice beer, and because of the enthusiasm surrounding it, claimed its spot as the next Looking Glass limited-edition brew.

Obovoid Empirical Stout will be available starting November 15th while supplies last in 22 oz. bottles and 15.5 gallon kegs.

The Pub at Boulder Beer Company will tap Obovoid Empirical Stout on Thursday, November 15th, at 4:00pm. The roll-out party will include games (don’t miss the Obovoid Relay Race on our patio!), prizes and discounted pints of Obovoid from 4:00 – 7:00pm. The Pub is located in the brewery at 2880 Wilderness Place in Boulder.
