Once again, Jeff Griffith, head brewer at Golden City Brewery, will be offering second runnings from Centurion Barley Wine and we have the chance to brew and compete in a special homebrew competition.

This annual event is truly special:
>>Watch (and help!) with the brewing of this special beer.
>>Come in the morning to claim you place in line and receive 5 gal of wort that you can brew with (numbers will be handed out randomly--the better the number, the higher the gravity as the wort drops off with longer sparging). Bring a carboy or vessle to transport the wort.
>>Brew-in at Golden City if you want (bring your brew kettle, burner, hops, primary fermenter, etc.)
>>Enter your brew in the Second Runnings Competition when it's ready

Jeff will start brewing 8:30am - 9:00 am.

To enter the Golden City Second Runnings Competition, brew with no more than 1 pound of fermentables per 5 gallon batch (e.g., sugars or malted barley). Other grains and adjuncts are acceptable (and creativity is encouraged!). Jeff can provide us with the grain bill. No hops is in the second runnings wort. And you use your own yeast to make a special homebrew of your own design. Jeff and other judges will pick the winners at a future Hop Barley meeting. Prizes are awarded!
