Hop Barley and the Alers Homebrew Club of Boulder County's Annual Auction will take place August 23rd at the Masonic Lodge in downtown Boulder.

As you know, July’s meeting does not have a guest speaker and thanks to the encouragement of Eric and Cori, I would like to suggest a round robin style beer judging! If you’re interested in bringing a beer, please sign up here and let us know how many beers you’d like to include. The only limitation is time and number of judges.

If you’d like to participate:

Please supply 2 bombers of any beer you’d like judged.

Troy from AC Golden will be our Guest Speaker (Thank you Dan R) he will discuss lagers

Coby will also be speaking about Wood Aged Beers. This is a carry over from last month.

Beer style of the month - IPA

American IPA

Description:
The American IPA is a different soul from the reincarnated IPA style. More flavorful than the withering English IPA, color can range from very pale golden to reddish amber. Hops are typically American with a big herbal and / or citric character, bitterness is high as well.

Unfortunately Brian could not make it but he will be our guest speaker in June....We are happy to announce that award winning brewer, Brian Lutz, will be our guest speaker for our club meeting in March.

We will also be announcing the Secret ingredient for the First Hop Barley "Iron Brewer" competition. Beers (5 gallon batches) will be judged at our annual Picnic on June 25th.

Coby will be talking about the Beer Style of the Month = Bock
and we will be having a Club Only competition on this style. So bring your Bock to by Judged.

Guest Speaker will be Tom Horst from Crystal Springs Brewing Company.

Tom operates what is possibly the smallest licensed brewery in the country.
