Folks:

I wanted to let you know I am talking to Will Witman (Niwot Hops) about a Hop Festival--UPDATE TO SUNDAY, AUGUST 28TH.

We're still working out details and the exact date may depend on the hop harvest/weather, but here are some of the fun activities:
1) Hop harvesting
2) Brew-In (we want some Alers to do on-premise brewing as a part of the event)
3) Fresh hopped beer: I'll bring out my Hop Randall--we'll need some APA or IPA to go with this (volunteers?)
4) Farm-to-Table food: We'll have a terrific meal with local produce

Once again, Jeff Griffith, head brewer at Golden City Brewery, will be offering second runnings from Centurion Barley Wine and we have the chance to brew and compete in a special homebrew competition.

This annual event is truly special:
>>Watch (and help!) with the brewing of this special beer.
>>Come in the morning to claim you place in line and receive 5 gal of wort that you can brew with (numbers will be handed out randomly--the better the number, the higher the gravity as the wort drops off with longer sparging).

Bring your brewing equipment and your favorite grains, a potluck dish to share and maybe even some beer. This is dad’s day home with the kids/dogs/cats (a nice way of saying “No Men Allowed”). Last year, our brews took three medals at the annual Queen of Beer competition in California – we can do better than that!

This year, we’ll be congregating at Cathy Jones’s House:
